There are so many factors, hushed words at night, and plans. What Kiera Cass understands, unlike so many others, is that a revolution does not happen in a day. There was such a great balance, yet the story felt absolutely present at the same time. At times, I felt like I was reading The Bachelor, and at other times, I thought I was transported back to the 1800s. It feels so contemporary and archaic at the same time. The average dystopian trilogy follows a tried-and-true formula. Moreover, this book was so, so REFRESHING. It took some huge events for Maxon to put on a brave face, but I’m so glad that they happened. People get so swept up in competition, but there is always more to life than a current crisis. Queen Amberly was stunning, beautiful, and so RIGHT. Kiera Cass foreshadowed a certain aspect really well, so the ending to that arc was expected in the most delightful way.Īs for the other girls, I loved the new sense of camaraderie.
